Taking "Issue" With Kerry

You may remember that last week Cardinal Theodore McCarrick (search) of Washington said on “FOX News Sunday” that he had an "issue" with Senator John Kerry's stands on abortion and stem cell research — which go against Church teachings. The cardinal said that archbishops have a right to deny Kerry communion, although he would like to meet with the Senator before taking such a step.

Well, last Thursday Kerry and the cardinal met privately for 45 minutes. The Kerry campaign said the session was planned for weeks. But an aide to the cardinal tells Fox News a different story — that the senator's staff asked for the meeting after our interview last Sunday. And the cardinal has not decided whether to impose any sanctions on Kerry.
