Pull the Trigger But Don't Shoot?

A Democratic organization in Florida appears to want Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld (search) shot, saying -- "Rumsfeld [has] said of Iraq, 'We have our good days and our bad days.' We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say 'This is one of our bad days,' and pull the trigger."

The St. Petersburg Democratic Club, in an ad published in the local weekly The Gabber, says it also wants President Bush and his -- "whole damn bunch" to stop calling Iraqi fighters insurgents, insisting -- "[They] aren't insurgents. They're Iraqi patriots who want us the hell out of their country."

The organization, by the way, now says -- "'Pull the trigger' means let Rumsfeld know where we stand, not ... shoot him."

New Draft?

Independent Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader (search) is telling Americans that a new military draft is coming, saying -- "the machinery for drafting a new generation of young Americans is being quietly put into place [by the Pentagon]" as "today's enlistments in the Reserves and National Guard are declining."

But military officials say that, in fact, the Army Reserves has exceeded enlistment goals every month this year -- with more than 8,000 new recruits -- and the National Guard is faring better than expected. Both exceeded expectations last year.

What's more, the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Navy all met or exceeded their enlistment goals last year, with enlistment this year continuing to rise.

Unrest Part of a Plan?

If you want to know what some Muslim media think of the recent unrest in Iraq, a report by the Mehr News Agency in Iran says the U.S. is using the unrest to divert the world's attention while U.S. forces sneak weapons of mass destruction into Iraq.

In the report, an unnamed Iraqi source says that over the past month, weapons of mass destruction have been brought to southern and western Iraq, disguised as shipments from the Red Cross, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and a fake shipping company.

The Iraqi source says the White House told the Defense Department to hide the weapons, and then, if needed, announce their discovery at some later time.

Maggie Made Them Rude?

The head of the largest Women's teachers union in Britain says it's former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's (search) fault that today's youth are so rude and ill-behaved.

Specifically, union president Pat Lerew says Thatcher's years as Prime Minister were a time -- "when there was no such thing as society and it was everyone for themselves; when anything that had a monetary value was sold, and anything that [didn't] was therefore of no value."

And so, Lerew says, the children who grew up under Thatcher's government -- "have now manifested themselves in their own children."
