Sharpton Not Backing Out of Campaign

Published January 14, 2015

Associated Press

Al Sharpton (search) says he's staying in the presidential nominating fight to make sure his agenda is "regarded and respected."

Sharpton vows to continue pushing the urban agenda, including the issues of employment, police brutality and health care. He says his campaign will regroup and then focus on next week's primary in Florida.

Sharpton placed a distant third in New York's primary with eight percent of the vote.

One pollster says Sharpton's poor showing in New York will hurt his ability to be a Democratic playmaker but won't mean he's going to disappear.
