COLUMBIA, S.C. – Al Sharpton (search) said his double-digit showing in South Carolina shows that "volunteers and grass-roots organizing" matter.
Sharpton won ten percent of the vote in the state's primary Tuesday, coming in third. In the seven contests yesterday, Sharpton managed to snag a single delegate from the 269 pledged delegates at stake.
In a speech, he said he was headed north — to his "home turf."
And he said he expected to do even better in future contests.
