You know it's been almost a week since the big blackout (search) and, as far as I can tell, nothing -- and I mean nothing -- is getting done. And you know why? Because everyone is still outraged. Outraged.
New York Governor Pataki says he's outraged at the power guys.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's outraged at the energy guys who provide the juice for the power guys.
The power guys are outraged at the political guys, for doing squat to help any of the power guys.
President Bush is outraged at the environmental guys.
The environmental guys are outraged at the Bush guys.
And me? We’ll I'm outraged by their outrage.
Why is it no one claims even a modicum of responsibility for an aging grid that just went ker-plunk?
I'd have much more respect for the politician who confessed up rather than puffed up. Wouldn't it be nice to hear a congressman say something like, "You know what? I was so worried about the threat of planes going into buildings, that I never thought of lights going out in buildings?"
I'd give that guy a cheer. But no. It's much easier to pass the buck and propose nothing, than take the bull by the horn and do something.
So quit pointing your fingers and start moving your butt. I'd have a hell of a lot more respect for you, if you confessed up to being blind-sided than lied up to being responsible.
It amazes me that politicians who've been around for years acting like they've only been aware of this problem for days.
Save the outrage for The Sopranos. Save doing something, for us.
