NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: My next guest has had it with the U.N. He's had it with Saddam. And he's had it with this whole inspections charade. He's Pennsylvania Republican Congressman Curt Weldon. And he joins us now from Capitol Hill.

Congressman, good to have you.

REP. CURT WELDON, R-PA., HOUSE ARMED SERVICES CMTE.: Good to be here, Neil.

CAVUTO: You think this is all a sham, don't you?

WELDON: Well, I don't know if it is a sham. But I can tell you that we know without any hesitation that Saddam has chemical and biological agents. We know he's pursuing a nuclear program. We know he's done terrible things to his people. If you read the book by Ken Pollack, who was a CIA analyst on Iraq in the Clinton administration, the NSC, he's documented U.N. documents that show devastating acts on human beings that are as equal to what Hitler did before World War II.

CAVUTO: But still, Congressman, if Iraq can say even in this documentation that, yes, we used to have some of this stuff, but we don't have it any more, technically hat would satisfy things for the U.N., but I imagine it would not satisfy things for you?

WELDON: Well, we have got to pursue all of the leads that we have. Our intelligence has an extensive network of information which we can provide to the inspectors. We have got to pursue that. But beyond that, just getting beyond these inspections is not enough. If Saddam in fact comes clean, which I don't see how he could, then he has got to commit I think to a long-term presence of inspectors to make sure that there is no restart of any chemical, biological or other weapons of mass destruction program. And that should be done by the world community, not by the U.S. alone.

CAVUTO: Do you feel, though, that this is leading in one direction, though? that a lot of people say, look, we know this inspection process is limited? We don't really know whether they are being forthcoming. For that matter, it is like spreading salt over a vast area. There's just no way it can penetrate. So basically the process the U.N. has in place is a bad one?

WELDON: Well, it is very difficult for the process to work. But we do know that we have someone in power who is certainly equal to Milosevic in what he did. And yet we have this guy, even worse than Milosevic, has weapons of mass destruction at his disposal. Now the world went to war against Milosevic. We removed him. He is being tried for war crimes. I can tell you I have seen the evidence that Saddam has done things equal to anything that Milosevic has done. We have to understand with weapons of mass destruction under his control one day we may have to face these weapons against our own troops.
