Anti-terrorist police took five people into custody Wednesday in their investigation into shoe-bomb suspect Richard Reid.

The suspects — two Pakistanis and three North Africans — were rounded up in the suburbs of Paris, police officials said. Police said they found three guns during the searches, one with a telescopic sight.

The suspects are being questioned at police headquarters in Paris.

It's not immediately clear what the suspects' relationship is with Reid, who has been in custody in Massachusetts since December, when he allegedly tried to ignite explosives hidden in his shoes during a flight from Paris to Miami.

The plane was diverted to Boston after Reid was subdued by other passengers and members of the flight crew.
