FBI officials have confirmed that a pediatric intern at Tripler Medical Center is under investigation for allegedly possessing child pornography.

However, a Tripler spokeswoman said she doubts the activity has anything to do with the hospital.

FBI spokeswoman Pam McCullough said that the case involves allegations of child pornography and being investigated by the FBI and the Army Criminal Investigation Division.

Tripler spokeswoman Margaret Tippy said the intern began working at the hospital in late June and the investigation was begun in late July.

The intern was transferred from clinical care and assigned administrative duties, she said.

The Honolulu Star-Bulletin quoted sources as saying the intern's roommates discovered child pornography on his home computer and then discovered hidden cameras around the house.
