Following is the chronology of events in the Sacramento slayings case:
Aug. 20:
• Shortly before 10 a.m., Nikolay Soltys, 27, allegedly stabs his pregnant wife, Lyubov, at their home in North Highlands, a Sacramento suburb.
• Twenty minutes later, Soltys arrives at his relatives' home in Rancho Cordova. His aunt and uncle, Galina Kukharskaya, 74, and Petr Kukharskiy, 75, are fatally stabbed, along with Soltys' two 9-year-old cousins, Tatyana Kukharskaya and Dimitriy Kukharskiy, the grandchildren of the slain couple, according to police.
• An hour later, Soltys arrives at his mother's house in Citrus Heights, another Sacramento suburb. Soltys' mother first tells police he seemed fine, and showed no sign of anything wrong. Police conclude he was probably agitated and bloody, and cleaned up at her house before leaving with his 3-year-old son, Sergey. Police launch a search for Soltys and the boy.
• Some time after 8 p.m., Soltys, using children's toys, lures his son to a trash pile in rural Placer County, then kills him, police say.
• 10:30 p.m., police discover Soltys' Nissan Altima, with two family photographs inside with notes written in Russian on the back. One has directions to the 3-year-old's body, and a second note lists the slayings, suggesting the victims were killed "for speaking out," authorities say.
Aug 21:
• 4 p.m., authorities find Sergey Soltys' bloody body in a cardboard box, in the trash pile under a remote microwave tower about a half-mile from the nearest road, just outside Sacramento.
Aug. 22:
• 1:30 p.m., woman says she narrowly avoids traffic collision in north Sacramento County with an Explorer in which Soltys was a passenger. It was driven by another woman.
Aug. 23:
• Soltys added to FBI's "Most Wanted List"; reward fund for his arrest rises to $70,000.
Aug. 26:
• With a police helicopter circling overhead, more than 5,000 members of Sacramento's Eastern European community pack a church for the funerals of the six slain family members.
Aug. 30:
• 8 a.m., police, tipped by Soltys' brother, find Soltys hiding under a desk in his mother's back yard in Citrus Heights.
