Talking Points: My Review of Condit

The Talking Points memo: my review of Congressman Gary Condit himself.

Well, you've heard all the analysis about what he said, but this guy really is Mr. Empathy, isn't he?  He looked all shook up about his close friend, Chandra Levy.  Yeah.  He's a sensitive guy all right.

Word is O.J. Simpson and Condit may go on the road together to find out what really happened to Chandra and Nicole.  Now I'm not saying that Gary Condit has done anything in the league of O.J. Simpson, but what I am saying is that he is one cold, calculating hombre, just as Simpson is.

Condit's demeanor with Connie Chung was downright creepy, as "The New York Post" put it.

But you've got to give the guy credit for one thing.  He sure can memorize.  He's got those pat answers down, doesn't he?

If you look at Condit's complete presentation, he thinks he's the victim here.  You know, Chandra may be missing, might be dead, the Levy family may be in anguish, the D.C. police may be frustrated, but it's Gary who's the aggrieved party.

And you know who's fault it is?  The press.  We're the problem.  Wait until you hear what Condit says about the press in a few moments.

Can you feel Gary Condit's pain?  Everybody's being unfair to him.  Everybody misunderstands.

All right.  Enough.  Every thinking American now has this guy's number.  But what's left is one short quiz.  Please apply the adjectives that pertain to Mr. Condit.  A, narcissist; B, sociopath; C, smarmy; D, unlikable; E, all of the above.  If you chose E, you are a no-spin person.  And that's the memo.

Most Ridiculous Item of the Day

Time now for the most ridiculous item of the day.  We are here in Chicago because your humble correspondent will be singing "Take me out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley Field tomorrow where the Cubs are locked in a pennant race.  Now some might think my appearance is ridiculous, but I think it's an honor because this is a tradition that was started by the late broadcaster, Harry Kerry.  And I am indeed humbled to be able to follow him.  We will show you a clip on Monday.
