Tom Cruise's new girlfriend, a good old fashioned Western, and Whoopi Goldberg in the center square we call The Foxlight.

Penelope Cruz is feisty. Nicolas Cage needs more Berlitz language tapes. The result is Captain Corelli's Mandolin. And despite starring Tom Cruise's new girlfriend, critics say the other scenery is more interesting - a Greek isle during World War II. The most intriguing thing about this movie is that it pits the new Cruz against the artist formerly known as Mrs. Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, in The Others.

Next Jesse James is back and trying to shoot from the hip as in comedy. The result is "sophomoric humor" according The Associate Press from American Outlaws. Critics also say the jokes make the violence seem almost out of place. And does anyone in this cast look familiar? Not really. Jesse may not rob much at the box office.

Finally, an all star cast including Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., John Cleese and Seth Green are all tossed together with a bus load of Lucys in Rat Race. This was directed by Jerry Zucker, the same guy who brought us Airplane and Top Secret!. But those were funny according to most critics. The big gags here aren't nearly as memorable, but preview audiences have been enjoying it so this one may give American Pie 2 a run for finish this weekend.
