Wednesday's guest: Joe Giermanski, director of Int'l. Business Studies at Belmont Abbey College

A former Regents Professor at Texas A&M International University,  Dr. Jim Giermanski is currently professor and director of International Business Studies at Belmont Abbey College. 

Giermanski also served as Director of Transportation and Logistics Studies for the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade at Texas A&M International University.

Giermanski consults often on international transportation, border logistics, and trade matters involving Mexico.  He has frequently been invited to testify on NAFTA, transportation, and other international business issues before both the U.S. Senate and House, the Texas Senate and House, the EPA, and the U.S. International Trade Commission. 

He served as the co-chairman of the Texas Transportation Committee of the Task Force created under Texas Governor Ann Richards to prepare for NAFTA, sat for five years on the Texas Office of the Attorney General’s Transborder Trucking International Working Group, and for three years as a member of the Research Advisory Committee on Management and Policy, Technical Advisory Panel, Texas Department of Transportation.

He has authored over 75 articles, books, and monographs.  He has been published extensively on transportation and trade issues and regularly writes for the "International Insight" column in Logistics Management and Distribution.  In addition to his scholarly writing, he has been published in the Journal of Commerce, El Financiero, Traffic World, and Transport Topics. 

Giermanski received his B.A. in English literature from Belmont Abbey College in 1961, a Master's in Education Administration at the University of North Carolina in 1972, and a Master of International Business at the Florida International University. He earned a PhD from the University of Miami in Education Administration.  He has also conducted studies at the Air War College in Management, Foreign Policy, Research Methods and at the Institute of World Affairs, in Salisbury, Conn.
