Richard N. Perle is a resident fellow for the American Enterprise Institute who specializes in defense, intelligence, national security, Europe, the Middle East and Russia. 

Perle has been chairman and chief executive officer of Hollinger Digital, Inc.  He was director of the Jerusalem Post and producer of the PBS special The Gulf Crisis: The Road to War.  Perle is a former assistant secretary of defense for international security policy under President Reagan.  He worked as Senate staff between 1969-1980.

He has written and edited two books, Hard Line and Reshaping Western Security, and has written articles for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, U.S. News & World Report, The Wall Street Journal, The Evening Standard, and The London Times.

Perle has a bachleor's degree from the University of Southern California and a master's degree in political science from Princeton University.
