Tomlin scratched with sore wrist, placed on DL

Cleveland Indians pitcher Josh Tomlin was scratched from Saturday's scheduled start against Boston because of a sore right wrist and placed on the 15-day disabled list.

The move is retroactive to May 8 and to take his spot in the start the team recalled right-hander Zach McAllister from Triple-A Columbus. McAllister, who was optioned to Columbus on Tuesday, will be making his second start of the season as he beat Chicago on Monday.

Tomlin developed a sore wrist in his last outing five days ago in the second game of a doubleheader against Chicago from gripping a wet ball. He is 1-2 with a 4.67 earned run average in six games, including five starts, this season.

Also on Saturday, the team purchased the contract of infielder Jose Lopez from Columbus, optioned infielder Jason Donald to Columbus and designated outfielder Nick Weglarz for assignment.

Lopez has played five games for the Indians this season and he has four hits, including a home run, in 21 at-bats.

Donald batted just .178 with four runs batted in over 16 games this season.
