Suns add Jay Triano, Tyrone Corbin to Earl Watson's staff

PHOENIX -- The Suns officially announced four new additions to Earl Watson's coaching staff on Wednesday.

Associate head coach Jay Triano, assistant coach Tyrone Corbin, assistant coach/player development coordinator Marlon Garnett and player-development coach Scott Duncan will join two holdovers from the previous staff: assistant coach Nate Bjorkgren and player-development coach Jason Fraser.

"As a family we are excited with the additions we have made into our program," Watson said in a statement released by the team. "Each coach possesses a unique passion to teach, and the chemistry of our staff is as important as the structure of our roster."

Triano, who had an 87-142 record as head coach of the Toronto Raptors from 2008-11, spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach with the Portland Trail Blazers. He is also head coach of Canada's national team.

Corbin's 16-season NBA playing career included two seasons with the Suns, 1987-89, before gravitating to the coaching ranks. He spent four seasons as a head coach of the Utah Jazz, compiling a 112-146 record, and had a 7-21 mark as interim head coach of the Sacramento Kings during the 2014-15 season.

Bjorkgren will spend his second season on the Suns' coaching staff and has coached their NBA Summer League team for the past two years.

Garnett joins the Suns after most recently working in video and player development with the San Antonio Spurs.

Duncan spent the past six seasons as associate head coach at the University of Wyoming.

Fraser will be in his second year as a player-development coach.
