South Dakota slips past UC Davis 27-17

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) Trevor Bouma ran for a career-high 186 yards and two touchdowns to lead South Dakota to a 27-17 win over UC Davis on Saturday night.

Bouma, who had 18 carries, scored on a 10-yard dash in the first quarter and then broke away for a 63-yard TD run midway through the third. Eric Shufford hauled in an 8-yard TD pass from Ryan Saeger to put South Dakota (1-1) on the board and Miles Bergner kicked 30- and 45-yard field goals to give the Coyotes their third win in four years over UC Davis (0-2).

The Aggies struck first with a 40-yard field goal by Brady Stuart to take a 3-0 lead but then went scoreless until the third quarter when Manusamoa Luuga ran in a 2-yard touchdown and Ben Scott threw a 75-yard TD strike to Chris Martin, who finished with 127 yards, to briefly pull within three.
