Pittsburgh hoping to add a little substance to its resume as No. 6 Syracuse visits

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon likes the improvement he's seen from his team over the past few weeks.

Still, Dixon knows it's time for the Panthers (17-5, 5-4 Big East) to bolster a resume with an eye-catching win. Pitt will get its chance on Saturday when No. 6 Syracuse (18-2, 6-1) visits.

The Panthers are 0-2 at home against ranked opponents this season, falling to Cincinnati on New Year's Eve and Marquette three weeks ago. Pitt does own a 25-point romp on the road at Georgetown, but Dixon says the Panthers need that kind of performance at the Petersen Events Center.

Pitt is 12-1 at home against top 10 teams since The Pete opened a decade ago and the Panthers are 9-3 against the Orange under Dixon. Syracuse hasn't played since an upset loss at Villanova last weekend.
