Panthers beat Predators 6-3 in opening game of split-squad doubleheader

The Florida Panthers scored three goals in the third period and beat the Nashville Predators 6-3 in the first game of a split-squad, preseason double-header on Monday.

Brad Boyes put the Panthers ahead 4-3 with 7:16 remaining. Scottie Upshall had his second goal of the game with 6:37 remaining and Quinton Howden scored at the 15:37 mark to cap the third-period outburst.

Nashville led 3-1 after the opening period with goals by Kevin Henderson (0:44), Filip Forsberg (7:39), and Shea Weber (19.27).

Upshall scored his first goal on a power play at 6:01 in the first.

Florida's Erik Gudbranson had two goals at 14:14 and 18:13 of the second.
