Knicks' Novak placed on inactive list

The New York Knicks will be without the services of 3-point specialist Steve Novak for Friday's Game 6 against the Boston Celtics after the team placed the veteran forward on the inactive list.

Novak played just under three minutes in Wednesday's Game 5 loss to the Celtics due to back spasms. The Marquette University product appeared in all five games against Boston, but recorded just 15 points and four rebounds.

To replace Novak on the roster, the Knicks activated forward-center Earl Barron.

New York signed Barron on April 17 after he was waived by the Washington Wizards in December. The 31-year-old veteran posted 11 points and 18 rebounds in his only game with the Knicks this season.
