IndyCar headed to The Strip?

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

IndyCar appears to be headed to The Strip.

IndyCar Series officials have called a news conference for Tuesday, when they're expected to add Las Vegas as the season-ending race on the 2011 schedule. Several current drivers and IndyCar legend Al Unser Jr. will be on hand for the announcement.

IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard has had his eye on Las Vegas since last season and IndyCar officials have been working for months to get a deal to get a race there.

The final race is scheduled for Oct. 16, two weeks after the Kentucky Indy 300.

Homestead-Miami Speedway had been the site of the finale for most of the past decade, including last season, when Dario Franchitti overcame Will Power to win the season championship.
