Cleveland Indians center fielder Grady Sizemore will start the season on the 60-disabled list following back surgery last month.

The move was announced Wednesday as the Indians gear up to start the season against Toronto on Thursday.

Sizemore also started last season on the DL and has played just 104 games over the past two years because of several injuries.

Also Wednesday, the Indians placed left-handed pitcher David Huff on the 15- day DL with a right hamstring strain.

They designated left fielder Thomas Neal for assignment, outrighted pitcher Henricus VandenHurk to Triple-A Columbus, released left fielder Felix Pie and called up pitcher Dan Wheeler and infielder Jose Lopez from Columbus.
