Hamels eager to assert himself as Rangers' new ace

Cole Hamels has made two starts since coming over to the Texas Rangers from the Philadelphia Phillies in a blockbuster deal, but he isn't exactly satisfied with how things have gone.
In addition to missing a start with a groin issue, the star lefty is 0-1 with a 5.93 ERA in those two games (both games Texas has lost).
Hamels' third Rangers start will take place Monday night against the Seattle Mariners, and he's hopeful of finding a way to turn things around a bit for himself. As he told Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News over the weekend, he'd prefer to pitch like other recently traded pitchers: "When you go to a new team, you want to come in guns blazing and throw shutouts. There are a few guys who are doing a good job of that on their new teams."
Those 'few guys' to which he refers are pitchers such as Scott Kazmir and Johnny Cueto, who have dazzled with their new teams since being traded to the Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals, respectively.
Hamels effectively reiterated that he's confident in his abilities to 'get going' with his new club: "I know I'm capable of doing that. I'd like to do that. It was better to be smart [with the groin], knowing I'll get those opportunities to do it."
He'll have another chance to make the Rangers happy on Monday night.
