Ex-MLB player Chad Curtis gets 7-15 years in sex case involving girls at Michigan high school

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Former major league outfielder Chad Curtis has been sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison for inappropriately touching teenage girls.

The 44-year-old Curtis was sentenced Thursday in Michigan. Jurors convicted the two-time World Series champion this summer on six counts of criminal sexual conduct.

Prosecutors say he touched the girls last year when he was a volunteer weight-room strength trainer at a high school in Barry County, located between Grand Rapids and Lansing. A 16-year-old girl says he inappropriately touched and kissed her, and two 15-year-old girls say Curtis inappropriately touched their buttocks.

Between 1992 and 2001, Curtis played for the then-California Angels, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. He won the two World Series rings with the Yankees.
