St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig has a mid-left foot sprain, the team announced on Thursday.

Craig had an X-ray and MRI done on the foot and an evaluation by Dr. John Nadaud, a foot and ankle specialist at Mercy Hospital, announced that there was no fracture.

He will wear a walking boot for protection and will be re-evaluated next week.

Craig suffered the injury in the fourth inning of Wednesday's game against Cincinnati after reaching first base on an error by Joey Votto. Craig rounded first and was on his way to second base when he dropped to the ground in pain.

In his fourth season, the 29-year old, is batting .315 with 13 home runs and 97 RBI in 134 games.
