Chad Johnson gets probation

Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson will reportedly serve one year of probation as part of his plea agreement for a domestic battery charge in south Florida.

Johnson, while a member of the Miami Dolphins, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge last month after allegedly head-butting his then-wife Evelyn Lozada during an argument. He pleaded no contest and the Sun-Sentinel on Friday reported that a judge has approved the agreement with the Broward State Attorney's office.

In addition to a year of probation, Johnson will also undergo counseling and pay medical costs.

According to the police report, Johnson and Lozada were arguing in a vehicle. The argument apparently started when Lozada found a receipt for condoms in the car.

Johnson, who had never been arrested during his NFL career, was released by the Dolphins soon after the incident.

The 34-year-old veteran played his first 10 seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals and spent the 2011 campaign with New England. He has 766 career catches for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.
