Braves activate B.J. Upton

The Atlanta Braves activated outfielder B.J. Upton from the 15-day disabled list and placed catcher Gerald Laird on the DL.

Upton has been on the disabled list since July 14 with a right adductor strain. He was hitting .177 with 10 doubles, eight homers and 20 RBI before the injury.

Laird, who had a kidney stone removed on Wednesday, is batting .293 with one homer and 11 RBI in 28 games this season. The move is retroactive to July 26.
