Bengals terminate Wharton's contract

Published January 13, 2015

The Cincinnati Bengals have terminated the contract of guard Travelle Wharton, making him a free agent.

The 32-year-old veteran signed a three-year contract with Cincinnati as a free agent last summer, but suffered a torn right ACL just a few snaps into the Bengals' preseason opener last August and was lost for the season.

Wharton had started all 99 games he played over the previous eight seasons with the Carolina Panthers, who selected the South Carolina product in the third round of the 2004 draft.
