The Chicago Bears signed former Oakland Raiders guard Lucas Nix on Monday, the team's official Twitter account announced.

Nix, 25, joined the Raiders as an undrafted rookie out of Pittsburgh in 2012. He played in 14 games last season and started 10 of them, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com. With the Bears, Nix will compete for a roster spot backing up starting guards Kyle Long and Matt Slauson.

To make room for Nix on the 90-man roster, the Bears waived offensive lineman Jason Weaver, a former undrafted rookie who did not appear in a single game last season.
