Australia slips by Canada in women's hoops

Elizabeth Cambage scored 19 points and Lauren Jackson added 18 points with nine rebounds to help Australia post a 72-63 win over Canada in the women's basketball tournament.

Belinda Snell contributed 12 points for Australia, which never trailed while leading by as many as 19.

The Australians finished second in Group B with a 4-1 mark during the preliminary round.

Kim Smith had 17 points to pace the Canadians (2-3), who advanced to the knockout stage despite the loss.

Teresa Gabriele and Shona Thorburn donated nine points apiece in a losing effort.
