Maine, Georgia Southern set 2019 matchup

(STATS) - The University of Maine announced Thursday it will play at Sun Belt member Georgia Southern in 2019.

The matchup is scheduled for Sept. 7 at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to compete against a great program in Georgia Southern," Maine coach Joe Harasymiak said. "We have played them in past years and we always look forward to competing against the best."

Georgia Southern won the two previous meetings in the FCS quarterfinals, 31-7 in 2002 and 35-23 in 2011. The Eagles won six national championships on the FCS level.

Maine is a member of CAA Football.
