HOUSTON (AP) Houston closer Ken Giles injured his right wrist when he was hit by a line drive during batting practice on Saturday.

Manager A.J. Hinch said it was already starting to bruise minutes after Giles was struck.

Trainers ran to the right-hander after he was hit and he remained on his knees on the field for a while before being carted off.

It was too soon to know how severe the injury is, but Hinch says: ''It wasn't good. He's not in very good shape. It looked like a ball off of the bat hit him pretty hard.''

Giles picked up his fifth blown save this season on Friday night when he gave up six runs in the ninth inning of a 10-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

He is 2-5 with a 4.31 ERA and 13 saves this season.
