Colombian driver Gabby Chaves has been hired by Dale Coyne Racing to run in both IndyCar races this month.

Chaves replaces Italian Luca Filippi in the No. 19 car. Chaves will make his season debut in Saturday's Grand Prix of Indianapolis and will also compete in the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 29.

Last year, Chaves drove for Bryan Herta Autosport and was named the series' rookie of the year. He also won rookie of the year honors at the 500 after finishing 16th.

Chaves will be paired with American Connor Daly for both races.

The announcement means there are still 33 driver-car combinations for the Indianapolis 500, enough to fill the traditional starting grid.
