It's an unusual schedule this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, where the first round of practice for Saturday night's Duck Commander 500 (FOX, 7:30 p.m. ET) took place late Thursday afternoon.

And as expected, speeds were fast at the 1.5-mile TMS oval. And when the 85-minute session was over, Martin Truex Jr. was fastest, his No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota turning a best lap of 192.892 miles per hour.

Team Penske was next on the speed charts, with Brad Keselowski clocking in second at 192.164 mph, with Joey Logano a very close third at 192.1543 mph.

Fourth was the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Austin Dillon, who is having the best year of his career, followed by a resurgent Brian Vickers and Jimmie Johnson.

Cup qualifying takes place Friday at 2:45 p.m. ET, with the final Happy Hour round of practice at 6:30 p.m. ET. Both will be televised on FS1.
