Bantamweight sluggers Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt have agreed to meet at the upcoming UFC Fight Night card expected to take place on May 29.

Sources close to the matchup confirmed to FOX Sports that verbal agreements are in place following an initial report from Combate in Brazil. UFC officials have not made a formal announcement to confirm the matchup.

At 20-0, Almeida is considered one of the top prospects in the bantamweight division. The Brazilian has looked impressive thus far in his young UFC career as well, with four straight wins -- three by way of knockout or TKO.

But Almeida will definitely have a tough test on his hands facing one of the top young fighters out of Team Alpha Male in Sacramento.

Garbrandt has racked up three straight wins since joining the UFC roster, including a dominant performance over Augusto Mendes in his last fight in February.

The Ohio native will now get a chance to crack the top 10 with a matchup against Almeida.

The Almeida vs. Garbrandt card is also expected to feature the return of former bantamweight champion Renan Barao as he moves up to 145 pounds to take on knockout artist Jeremy Stephens.
