Skip Peete is the new running backs coach of the Los Angeles Rams.

Peete, a longtime running backs coach who spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears in 2013-14, will guide a unit that features standout Todd Gurley. Nick Meeker of Coaches Inc., which represents Peete, confirmed to FOX Sports via phone on Friday that it's a "done deal."

The Rams on Monday named former Bears quarterbacks coach Michael Groh as their offensive coordinator. Groh had been with Chicago for the past three seasons.

Pete, the brother of former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, has 17 seasons of experience as a running backs coach in the pro ranks, including lengthy stints with the Dallas Cowboys (2007-12) and Oakland Raiders (1998-2006).

He inherits a running back corps headed by Gurley, who finished third in the league in rushing with 1,106 yards and scored 10 touchdowns during his rookie season.
