Veteran Sprint Cup crew chief Kevin 'Bono' Manion joins Kyle Busch Motorsports

Veteran Sprint Cup Series crew chief Kevin "Bono" Manion has joined Kyle Busch Motorsports' NASCAR Camping World Truck Series program to steer the efforts of the truck shared by Daniel Suarez and Cody Coughlin in 2016.

Manion, who spent most of last season with Sam Hornish Jr. at Richard Petty Motorsports and made his crew-chief debut in 2003, has been a crew chief for five Sprint Cup wins -- including the 2010 Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 with Jamie McMurray. Manion also won the 2004 and 2005 XFINITY Series championships as crew chief for Martin Truex Jr.

Manion's new appointment was announced Wednesday as KBM -- a winner of the past three truck owner's titles and last year's driver title with Erik Jones -- named the crew chiefs for its three respective trucks this season.

Joining Manion as a pit boss with the Toyota organization in 2016 is Rudy Fugle, who remains with KBM after guiding Jones to the 2015 championship. Fugle will now be paired with 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion William Byron.

Also returning atop a KBM pit box is Jerry Baxter, who will oversee the truck of Christopher Bell, who made seven starts for the organization last year.

"The goal at KBM is to have all three of our teams competing for wins and top fives every race and consistently be among the battle for the owner's championship," team owner Kyle Busch said in a team release. "Rudy, Jerry and the group of crew members that they have assembled on their respective teams, and everyone in the shop have accomplished those goals the past few seasons and the third team made strides through all of last season.

"With the addition of Bono -- a guy who is a true racer and a proven winner at NASCAR's highest level -- as the leader of that group of guys, I'm confident that their performance level will be much improved this season."
