After winning a puck battle in the corner, Daniel Sedin gave a quick touch pass to Henrik Sedin, who then slipped it to an uncovered Hansen.

The Oilers opened the scoring at 12:55 of the first when Letestu whipped a wrister from the slot to the top corner, beating Markstrom on the glove side for his fourth of the season. Lauri Korpikoski corralled a bouncing puck at the Vancouver blue line before making a short pass to Letestu.

The Canucks appeared primed to take the lead midway through the second after earning several chances during an impressive span of sustained pressure, but came up empty. Vancouver's Ben Hutton put a point shot off the post, and the Oilers were fortunate to escape unscathed.
