PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) State lawmakers say they're not expecting former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling to comply with a subpoena to appear before a committee probing Rhode Island's $75 million deal with his failed video game company.
But they say they at least needed to attempt to get answers from him.
The House Oversight Committee asked House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello to issue the subpoena, which he did. The subpoena commands Schilling to testify before the committee on Tuesday.
Mattiello's spokesman says a constable has the subpoena, but hasn't been able to serve it.
Republican Rep. Michael Chippendale says he's pragmatic and doesn't expect Schilling to appear.
Schilling's attorneys didn't respond to requests for comment.
