Holm's corner: 'We were supposed to do this, act professional'

Holly Holm's head kick that knocked out Ronda Rousey caused a hushed silence for most of Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, but that didn't extend to the winning corner, where coaches Greg Jackson, Mike Winkeljohn and Izzy Martinez began to celebrate.

Because the corners have microphones attached to them for the pay-per-view broadcast that airs directly on the UFC's website, every word was captured as Holm landed the shot heard round the world.

As soon as the fight was stopped, Holm's corner began screaming in excitement with her wrestling coach Martinez being the loudest by far but it's Jackson, who serves as the head coach and corner man, who calmed down everybody amidst a chaotic scene.

"Calm down, calm down guys, we don't need any drama," Jackson said. "We were supposed to win."

That kind of confidence was paramount in Holm's victory as she dismantled Rousey from the opening bell with a picture perfect strategy. Rousey's tendency to get over aggressive got her to the point where she is right now, but Holm refused to fall into the traps and started to hit and circle away as soon as the fight started.

Holm landed several hard shots to Rousey's face as she stayed patient and just stuck to her guns with quick combinations before moving away to never give an opening for a takedown or getting stuck in the clinch.

Following the knockout, Jackson once again reminded his team that they expected to win and this was the time to show respect to everyone involved and not get over emotional.

"We were supposed to do this," Jackson said. "Act professional."

While Martinez was clearly the loudest person in the corner screaming over and over again in celebration, the most prophetic words uttered came after he stepped into the Octagon to hug Holm and just before UFC announcer Bruce Buffer declared her the new women's bantamweight champion.

"No one's invincible," Martinez said. "No one is."
