NEW YORK (AP) There's even more excitement in store for Game 3 of the World Series.

A spokesman for Billy Joel tells Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1k9ibRX ) the ''Piano Man'' will lead Citi Field in the national anthem prior to the game Friday night between the Mets and the Kansas City Royals.

The Mets have a long history with Joel.

This season, they played Joel's ''Piano Man'' as a sing-along in the middle of the 8th inning break and sometimes played ''New York State of Mind'' after a Citi Field win.

Last week, Joel sang ''Meet the Mets'' and gave score updates from the NLCS's Game 4 during a concert at Madison Square Garden.

Joel also sang the anthem during Game 1 of the 2000 World Series between the Mets and Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
