SYDNEY (AP) Albania striker Besart Berisha scored in the last minute of regular time to give Melbourne Victory a 3-2 over Melbourne City in the second round of Australian football's A-League.
Berisha tapped in Connor Pain's cross, which was partly parried by goalkeeper Thomas Sorenson, to save Victory's blushes after they had let slip a two-goal lead in a derby watched by 40,000 fans.
Fahid Ben Khalfallah and Kosta Barbarouses scored goals which put Melbourne ahead 2-0 after 57 minutes before City rallied through Bruno Fornaroli and Stefan Mauk in the 68th and 71st minutes to tie the scores.
Berisha has a proven talent for snatching late winners in pressure games and he exercised that again Saturday with his 90th minute decider.
''I know when I work hard and keep believing I will score my goal and it was a very important goal,'' Berisha said.
''We made a couple of mistakes, we should definitely do better. It should never happen to us after being 2-0 up.''
Sydney beat Newcastle 1-0 to extend its unbeaten record away from home to a league-record 16 games.
Sydney had eight shots to one on target and had 60 percent of possession but had to wait until the 89th minute when captain Alex Brosque broke the deadlock with a headed goal.
Sydney will meet city rival Western Sydney next weekend.
The Wanderers drew 1-1 with Adelaide on Friday, with Spaniard Andreu Mayora scored at both ends. Andreu conceded an own goal in the 21st minute, deflecting Tarerk Elrich's shot wide of keeper Andrew Redmayne. But he made amends in the 83rd minute when he pounced on Elrich's poor clearance and drove home his shot from 10 meters.
