ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Second baseman Johnny Giavotella is back in the Los Angeles Angels' lineup after missing five weeks with a nerve palsy that gave him double vision.
Giavotella batted ninth for the Angels on Friday night in the opener of their final homestand against Seattle.
Giavotella has been sidelined since Aug. 20 by his unusual condition, which gave him double vision when he looked down. The palsy left him unable to face pitching, but the condition finally subsided after several weeks of rest.

The Angels struggled to replace Giavotella, who had an unexpectedly strong debut season as the Angels' starting second baseman, batting .265 with three homers, 40 RBIs and a series of clutch late-game hits while playing in 119 of their first 121 games.
