LSU was a bit of an unknown heading into the 2015 season.

Les Miles' team is an underclassmen-laden group, particularly in terms of sophomores. The inexperienced players were thrust into significant roles at the start of this year. The opener versus McNeese State was supposed to act as a "tune-up" of sorts before conference play begins. Instead, Mother Nature necessitated a cancelation of the game. In what was supposed to be a tough two-game slate, LSU acquitted themselves quite well versus both Mississippi State and Auburn to start conference play.

As a result, there's palpable hype surround this team from a College Football Playoff standpoint. Star running back Leonard Fournette is using a motivation tactic in the form of his phone. According to his teammate Dwayne Thomas, Fournette has constantly been showing his teammates a picture of the national title trophy.

LSU still has a litany of tough games remaining on its schedule, including road games at Alabama and Ole Miss. Miles' team will have to continue to develop and mature if they're to make the playoff at the end of the year.

If Fournette has anything to say about it, the proverbial carrot at the end of the stick (in the form of a picture) will be an indelible mark for all of his teammates to strive towards.
