Oakland A's prospect Michael Nolan remains in critical condition after being shot in the head and torso in Yonkers, N.Y., early Friday, The News Journal reported Saturday.

Nolan, 23, was shot in a Burger King parking lot by an unknown person. According to The News Journal, no arrests have been made and police are examining video footage from the scene.

Police suspect the shooting could be related to an argument that developed following a drag race Wednesday night, according to the New York Daily News.

"This is not a random shooting," Yonkers Police Chief Charles Garner told the Daily News.

"The driver pointed a gun out the window and fired five or six shots," Chief of Investigations Timothy Hodges told WABC-TV in New York.

Michael's mother Donna posted this message on her Facebook page: "You can never imagine how much my family and I appreciate it. I am asking all please keep Michael in your prays and help bring the person or persons who did this to the Yonkers police."

Nolan, a left-handed pitcher who played collegiately at Oklahoma City University, was drafted in the 18th round in 2014 by the A's.
