With only five days left before Texas takes the field against Notre Dame, here are five predictions from writers about the Longhorns' upcoming 2015 campaign.
Max Olsen, ESPN: 7-5. "The Longhorns get off to an up-and-down start, including tough losses to Notre Dame and TCU, and are 3-3 at midseason. But they manage to string together a steak, winning four of their next five en route to a 7-5 regular season."
Mike Finger, Houston Chronicle/San Antonio Express-News: 7-5. "A new up-tempo spread offense should help address some of the problems on that side of the ball, and the heralded youngsters on defense should improve throughout the season."

Stewart Mandel, Fox Sports: 6-6. "It will be another rocky, .500-type season for Charlie Strong's Longhorns, but not without showing off promise for the near future."
Bruce Feldman, Fox Sports:6-6."Charlie Strong is in the midst of a serious rebuilding effort at Texas. The 'Horns fizzled at the end of last season and simply don't have enough horses to contend right now. UT brass needs to show him patience, but if the 'Horns don't at least keep games competitive this year, that won't bode well for Strong's future in Austin."
Athlon Sports: "could be very similar to last year's 6 -- 7."
"Charlie Strong is still rebuilding in many ways after replacing his offense … The defense will undoubtedly be the strength again this year. … With a schedule that includes road games against potential top-10 teams Notre Dame, TCU and Baylor, the quarterback play has to lead a turnaround in 2015."
