FC Porto continued their run on Mexican players by securing the services of wingback Miguel Layún from Watford.
Layún completed his move from the Premier League to Portugal on Monday night. The terms of the deal were not officially disclosed, but Layún is expected to join Porto on a season-long loan deal.
It marked the second arrival of a Mexican international at Porto in a span of a few hours after Jesús Corona sealed his move from FC Twente earlier in the day.
Layún joins Corona and Héctor Herrera in the Porto first-team squad, while Mexico under-20 international goalkeeper Raúl Gudiño is learning his trade in the reserves after a completing a move from Chivas Guadalajara earlier this year.
The 27-year-old defender placed his career on hold in England after just 21 appearances, including three games in the Premier League this season. Layún scored his first and only Premier League goal in Watford's 2-2 season-opening draw at Everton on Aug. 8.
Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores fielded Layún as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, but he parted ways with him just two days later as the Hornets attempt to firm up their 25-man squad before submitting it to the Premier League later this week.
Layún is expected to link up with the Mexico squad in Salt Lake City after completing the necessary formalities in Portugal. The left-sided defender faces a challenge for his place from Tigres UANL defender Jorge Torres Nilo ahead of the friendlies against Trinidad & Tobago and Argentina during this international break.
