Lindor homers, Sabathia injured as Indians beat Yankees 4-3

Francisco Lindor hits go-ahead HR to help the Indians beat the Yankees on Sunday

NEW YORK (AP) -- Francisco Lindor homered off Dellin Betances in the eighth, Trevor Bauer allowed just two hits in 6 1-3 innings and CC Sabathia exited with an injury as the Cleveland Indians defeated the New York Yankees 4-3 on Andy Pettitte Day in the Bronx on Sunday.

Carlos Santana homered off Sabathia for the Indians, who have won five of their last six games at Yankee Stadium. Sabathia departed in the third inning with right knee pain.

Lindor's homer, the rookie's second blast in two games, came moments after Carlos Beltran hit a game-tying double off reliever Bryan Shaw (2-2) in the seventh.

Lindor became the first left-handed batter to homer off Betances (6-3), who had faced 302 left-handed hitters without allowing a homer.

Sabathia struggled with his command from the onset, throwing behind the first two batters before Santana's blast. The homer was Santana's first against a left-hander this season.

Sabathia allowed four hits and walked a season high four batters.

He struck out Yan Gomes with a 91 MPH fastball for the second out of the third. After the pitch, Sabathia stepped off the mound, visibly unhappy, and was visited by athletic trainer Steve Donohue and manager Joe Girardi, then left the game.

Beltran's double spoiled a good pitching performance from Bauer, who allowed two runs on two singles. Bauer struck out seven and walked a season-high six, throwing 109 pitches.

The Yankees manufactured their first run of the game in the third with only one hit.

Jacoby Ellsbury led off the frame with a single and then stole second. Brett Gardner walked, and after Beltran advanced Ellsbury with a flyout to right field, Gardner stole second, allowing Ellsbury to score when the throw from catcher Gomes skipped away from Lindor.

Gardner's stolen base was the 200th of his career, making him the sixth Yankee to reach the milestone.

Abraham Almonte drew a bases-loaded walk against Branden Pinder in the fifth.

Prior to the game, the Yankees retired Pettitte's No. 46 and unveiled a plaque in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium one day after doing the same for Jorge Posada and his No. 20.

Cody Allen pitched the final 1 1-3 innings for his 25th save, his second four-out save of the series.
