The question in the Big 12 might not be whether TCU can keep its lofty ranking all season or whether Baylor will be able to sustain its success.

It might not even be whether Oklahoma and Texas can get back to an elite level. Perhaps, Kansas State and Oklahoma State are worthy of compelling questions, too.

But really, the main concern with the Big 12 is: Can one of the 10 teams make the postseason final four?

There are five power conferences, so that means at least one won't be represented. That was the case last year as a pair of one-loss teams -- Baylor and TCU -- were both on the outside.

TCU and Baylor are projected to be there this season and Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are projected to be contenders for the conference.

Sports Illustrated recently did a conference preview for the Big 12 where the highs and the lows of the conference were explained as well as some other issues, players and games to watch were noted. You can see that here. Coach Bob Stoops is llisted as a coach on the hot seat and Baylor is picked to win the conference with an 8-1 record.

Sports Illustrated didn't make a prediction on whether a Big 12 team will make the playoff, but both TCU and Baylor were ranked among the magazine's top four in its preseason rankings. Here's the complete top 25 from Sports Illustrated.
