Ricky Town's time with the USC Trojans lasted about as long as the flavor in a piece of chewing gum. The four-star quarterback in the class of 2015 enrolled early at USC on Jan. 18. Now, he's been granted his release from the program by head coach Steve Sarkisian and will seek a transfer.

Town was the No. 5 overall quarterback in the recruiting class.

Town chose USC over Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and several other high-profile programs. Town actually verbally committed to 'Bama before decommitting in January 2014, a few days before announcing he would attend USC.

It's unclear why Town decided to transfer only a few months into his career at USC. It's also unknown where Town hopes/plans to go.

As for the Trojans, they're going to move forward with redshirt senior Cody Kessler as the starter. The second-string spot will up for grabs between Max Browne, Sam Darnold, and Conner Sullivan.
