Tiger Woods comes to the final major of the year without much talk about winning. He simply wants to get better.

Woods has slipped so far because of injury and poor play that he was able to show up last weekend at Whistling Straits to get ready for the PGA Championship. That's because he wasn't eligible for the World Golf Championship at Firestone for the first time in his career.

He hasn't won a tournament in two years. When asked if he knew his world ranking, Woods said only that it was somewhere in the 200s. He is No. 278.

Woods says consistency is the one area holding him back. He has missed the cut in his last two majors.
